Monday more sunshine …

… and it was back to Walton again. Lunch was similar to yesterday - pittas, humous and Baby Bel cheese with peppery salad leaves. We had a cake and coffee with Linda and Roger at the posh café. At home, Annie made spaghetti with home-made pesto, and that was very tasty.

… ‘cos we went to Walton on the Naze, and sat outside the beach hut for a few hours. For lunch, we had pittas with humous, avocado and peppery salad leaves. And that was really nice. We were going to make a big Sunday dinner when we came back, but we didn’t. Instead, we had something else, but I can’t remember what it was. Useless, aren’t I?

… and we didn’t go to Walton as we thought. We did the library, and then we did the Army & Navy to get the toilet stuff for the motorhome, and then Aldi for some food and stuff. Lunch was a brunch of lemon sole gujons from Aldi, with a salad. I think that was it for the day then. Maybe.

Weird Friday …

… because it feels like a Saturday. We didn’t have a ‘proper’ dinner, but I’d bought some Piegata from Sainsbury, which is (and I quote): “We ferment the dough for our Piegata for 24 hours to bring out the natural flavour and aroma. It’s then gently folded by hand and baked on volcanic stones for a light, fluffy texture.” It’s a sort of cross between a pitta bread and a bruschetta. Anyway, all I did was warm them up a bit in the oven, added mixed cheeses, put them back in the oven for 10 minutes, and did a green side salad. Nice.

Thursday and out (yet again) …

… because it was John’s birthday. We went to Carluccio’s in Canary Wharf, and we started with a mixture of olives, really nice calamari fritti (squid), and antipasto di verdure (salad). My main course was a strange one - people called it a chicken burger, although on the menu it was called milanese di pollo. I had a pudding of torta di limone (lemon tart), although I shared it with Annie and Sue, who had ordered a chocolate bread pudding, so we all shared both!

Wednesday is girlie day …

… ‘cos Annie had Heather and Sue round for lunch, and she made vegetable soup for them, which I also had when I got home. An aperitif of home-made biscuit was rather scrummy too!

Tuesday is pasta day …

… with Annies tagliatelli, and a sauce of mushrooms, onions and creme fraiche. Very nice it was, and unusual for us to have a delicate amount of sauce. Normally I drown pasta in sauce.

… for having yesterday’s burnt garlic soup, with a few vegetables, like carrot and turnip and onion. It tasted OK, sort of like burnt garlic taste.

… and we had cheese on baguettes round at John and Sue’s, although that was lunchtime, but we weren’t hungry at dinner time. I made a soup which had burnt garlic in it (I was trying, yet again, to make garlic crisps like wot they have in Japan, but I failed). Paul had some.

.. for going out again. It was up town (Brick Lane) with John and Sue and Rob and Les (and Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice maybe) to a Lebanese restaurant. I had a something I’ve forgotten since it’s so long since I wrote this blog for starter, and the main course was a mixed grill, with chicken and lamb which was gorgeous. Washed down with Lebanese beer and Cobra beer, with an aperitif of Adnams Broadside in the pub around the corner.
